Coverage and bulletin details

The models split into two groups. Between them, the Cruze 1.4L, Malibu 1.5L LFV and Equinox 1.5L LYX have guides for P0299, P1101 and reduced engine power. The Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban and Avalanche share the EVAP guides for P0442, P0446 and P0455. The Cruze belongs to both groups, because bulletin 17-NA-233 covers P0446 on the 2016–2019 Cruze 1.4L LE2 and traces it to water trapped in the canister filter pipe.

Once the model is clear, choose the code and check the guide’s application table before reading on, because year and engine decide which GM document applies. Among the EVAP bulletins, 23-NA-073 covers the Silverado 1500 from the 2019 new model through 2023 and the Silverado 2500 HD/3500 HD from 2020 to 2024, for trucks that operate in extremely dusty environments. 09-06-04-028D covers the 2007–2010 Avalanche, Suburban 1500 and Tahoe. The P0442 and P0455 guides also draw on 21-NA-124, which covers GM gasoline vehicles from 2000 to 2021.
