Chevrolet Malibu
Malibu guides for P1101 and reduced engine power with P0299. Each guide lists the years, engines and GM documents that apply.
Coverage and bulletin details
Both guides center on the 1.5L LFV, but the GM documents behind them span different years. Bulletin 22-NA-224, on a charge air cooler outlet tube separated from the throttle body, covers the 2018–2022 Malibu. Bulletin 20-NA-047, on high crankcase pressure from a blocked PCV orifice, covers 2016–2022. Preliminary information PIP5402D, on a coupler O-ring, gives one 2013–2019 span and names both the 1.5L LFV and the 2.0L LTG without splitting the years by engine.
Use the reduced engine power guide when power drops, with or without the check engine light, or when P0299 is stored. 22-NA-224 lists P0299 alongside P0101, P0172, P0506 and P1101. Use the P1101 guide when that code appears, especially with an oil leak, because only that guide covers the crankcase pressure branch.
22-NA-224 also sets a different labor figure for the Malibu: GM’s warranty labor time to replace the outlet tube is 2.2 hr, against 0.6 hr on the Equinox and Terrain. These are hours, not prices. NHTSA’s records, read October 14, 2026, show no recall for the charge-air fault; recall 19V642000, on engine control module software in certain 2018 Malibu models with the 1.5L turbo engine, is a separate issue.
